Lahore, 13th March, 2010: The city of Lahore was swayed by 7 bomb blasts out of which 2 exploded in Ara Bazaar, a famous shopping and business area which is always crowded and 5 went off in Allama Iqbal Town in a residential and shopping area.

The Talibans have claimed responsibility for the seven bomb blasts that ripped through Lahore on Friday killing 45 people and injuring over 100.
The Taliban struck despite tight security in the army-controlled cantonment area. It's believed the rise in attacks is in retaliation to Pakistan army's offensive against the Taliban.

The militants are believed to have been behind scores of attacks in US-allied Pakistan over the past several years. This includes a series of strikes that began in October and killed some 600 people in apparent retaliation for an army offensive along the Afghan border.

More recent attacks had been smaller and confined to remote northwest regions near Afghanistan.But, on Monday, a suicide car bomber struck a building in Lahore where police interrogate terrorist suspects. At least 13 died and dozens more were wounded.
